Limiting Beliefs Coach For Women

Name It...
Frame It

Grow From It.

Limiting beliefs are the quiet stories that shape how you see yourself and what you believe is possible. They whisper things like “I’m not ready yet” or “I’m not the kind of person who can do that” – until those thoughts start running the show. My work helps you uncover where those beliefs began, reframe them with truth and evidence, and replace hesitation with courage. The moment you start trusting your capability, those old limits stop defining you – and real growth begins.

Your beliefs, your breakthrough... no longer shaped by fear or doubt but powered by self-trust, resilience, and limitless possibility.

I’m Shelley Bosworth, a business strategy coach for ambitious women, and I’ve spent years helping women just like you identify and break free from limiting beliefs. Everything starts with our thoughts – they are the foundation of how we feel, act, and create our reality.

That’s why understanding how these beliefs form and how they affect your life is the first step to rewriting the script and stepping into your potential.

Have you ever felt stuck, like you’re holding yourself back from the success you know you’re capable of? Perhaps you’ve caught yourself thinking, “I can’t do that,” or “I’m not good enough to achieve that goal.” These thoughts don’t just limit your confidence – they shape your actions and ultimately your results.

This is the power of limiting beliefs… Limiting beliefs are the deeply ingrained thoughts that shape how we see ourselves and the world around us. They often operate in the background, quietly dictating our decisions and keeping us stuck. But here’s the truth: they are not facts. They are perceptions – and perceptions can be changed.

What Is a limiting belief?

A limiting belief is a thought or assumption you hold about yourself, others, or the world that restricts your potential. These beliefs act as invisible barriers, stopping you from pursuing opportunities, taking risks, or stepping into the version of yourself you’re meant to be.

For example:

  • You believe you’re “not smart enough” for a promotion, so you don’t apply.
  • You assume you’ll “fail at starting a business,” so you never start.
  • You think, “I’m not confident enough to lead,” so you avoid speaking up.

While they feel true, these beliefs are often based on past experiences or messages you’ve absorbed, not on objective reality. The good news? Once you identify these beliefs, you can challenge and change them.

Have You Asked Yourself...

Why Do I Have So Much Self-Doubt?

Self-doubt is one of the most common symptoms of limiting beliefs. It often stems from past experiences, criticism, or comparisons. Perhaps someone once questioned your abilities, and their words stuck with you. Or maybe you grew up in an environment that emphasised perfection, making you afraid to take risks or make mistakes.

Society also plays a role, especially for women. We’re often conditioned to play small, avoid being “too much,” and prove our worth over and over again. This can feed self-doubt and lead to thoughts like, “Who am I to try this?”

But self-doubt isn’t the problem; it’s staying stuck in it that holds you back. Recognising where your doubt comes from is the first step to addressing it.

Why Do I Feel Like Everyone Else Is Better Than Me?

The feeling that “everyone else is better” often stems from comparison. In today’s world, we’re constantly exposed to others’ achievements through social media, making it easy to believe we don’t measure up. But what you’re seeing is a highlight reel – not the full story. I know it can be easy to think that the polished highlights of someone’s social media feed is their reality, but trust me, behind the scenes their lives are just as imperfect as yours.

When you compare yourself to others, you’re overlooking your unique journey, talents, and experiences. Instead of asking, “Why aren’t I as good as them?” ask yourself, “What can I learn from them to grow and improve?”

How limiting beliefs shape your reality

The BEAR Framework

Belief

It all begins with a thought – a belief about yourself, others, or the world around you.

Emotion

Your beliefs trigger emotions. If you believe you’re not good enough, you might feel fear, doubt, or anxiety.

Action

These emotions drive your behaviour. Fear or self-doubt may lead to inaction, procrastination, or playing small.

Reality

Over time, these actions (or lack of action) reinforce your original belief, creating a self-fulfilling cycle.

How Do I Stop Worrying About What Others Think?

Caring about what others think is natural, but it becomes limiting when it stops you from being true to yourself. Ask yourself, “Whose opinion am I afraid of, and why?” Often, the people whose opinions we fear the most aren’t the ones walking in our shoes.

Reframe the question: “What would I do if no one was watching?” This shift helps you focus on your values and goals rather than external approval.

Remember, confidence doesn’t come from pleasing others; it comes from aligning with what’s right for you.

Can I Get Rid of Limiting Beliefs Completely?

While you may not eliminate limiting beliefs entirely, you can learn to manage them so they no longer control your decisions.

The key is building awareness and practising self-compassion. When limiting beliefs arise, see them as an opportunity to grow rather than a setback.

How to break the cycle of limiting beliefs

Now that you understand how limiting beliefs shape your emotions, actions, and reality, let’s talk about how to break free from them. Here’s a step-by-step approach:

1. Identify Your Beliefs

Start by becoming aware of the beliefs holding you back. Ask yourself: What thoughts arise when I think about achieving my goals? What stories do I tell myself about what’s possible for me? Are these beliefs serving or limiting me?

2. Challenge Your Beliefs

Question the validity of your beliefs. Is this belief true? What evidence do I have to support or disprove it? What would I say to a friend who held this belief about themselves?

3. Reframe Your Beliefs

Replace limiting thoughts with empowering alternatives. Limiting Belief: “I’m not good enough to lead.”
Reframed Belief: “I bring unique strengths and perspectives that make me a valuable leader.”

4. Act Despite the Doubt

Confidence isn’t a prerequisite for action - it’s a result of it. Each time you step outside your comfort zone, you weaken the grip of your limiting beliefs and prove to yourself that you’re capable.
